What is Appeasement?
Appeasement is the belief that if European states satisfy reasonable demands of dissatisfied states, peace would prevail. One example of appeasement is when Chinese ruler Chaing Kai-Shek appeased Japan by allowing then too occupy the Northern parts of China. Ultimately appeasing Japan backfired, because they advanced and seized the capital (Beisging) so Chang Kai-Shek simply moved it.
What is Isolationism?
Isolationism is a natural policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries. Isolationism refers to America's longstanding reluctancy to get involved in the European Alliances, and wars. The Americans take on isolationism was not that they were against the idea that the United States should be a world player, and even expand its territory, ideas, and economical interests in the Western Hemisphere.
