The Battle of Coral Sea
The first turning point in World War 2 was in May 1942, at the battle of Coral Sea. American Naval forces stopped the Japanese and saved Australia from invasion. Also, in June, the battle of Midway island the U.S. destroyed four Japanese air craft carriers and established Naval superiority. This helped to turn the tide of the war.
Removing Mussolini
In early 1943 the tides of the war turned yet again, this time when the Allies invaded Italy in September. After the Allies had captured Italy Mussolini was removed from office, and the Germans sent him to one of their "Puppet States" in Northern Italy to rule as a dictator.
